Cellulose

Cellulose is a natural polymer found in plant cell walls. Once purified and processed, its fibrous structure enables the formation of permeable, stable filter layers for liquid filtration.

Cellulose is a natural polymer that forms the main structural component of plant cell walls. Cellulose fibers obtained from sources such as wood and cotton are purified and processed for a variety of industrial applications.

As a distributor, we supply cellulose filter aids prepared by manufacturers specifically for liquid filtration. These products are available in grades suited to the precoat, solids retention and filter cake stability requirements of different filtration systems.

During production, purified cellulose pulp is processed to achieve the required fiber size and structure. Fiber size distribution and physical characteristics influence the permeability and solids retention behavior of the resulting filter layer. Different grades are prepared with fiber characteristics suited to the filtration equipment and process conditions.

In precoat applications, cellulose fibers bridge the openings of a support surface, such as filter cloth or a metal screen, forming an interlocking, permeable network. This structure provides a uniform initial filtration layer and supports filter aids applied over it. Appropriate fiber selection and precoating conditions help reduce the passage of fine particles through the support surface.

The fibrous structure of cellulose supports filter cake integrity and stability. It can reduce blinding of the support surface and facilitate cake removal at the end of the filtration cycle. Suitable grades can also be dosed into the liquid to be filtered as body feed.

Cellulose filter aids can be used alone or in combination with mineral filter aids such as perlite and diatomaceous earth, depending on application requirements. Mineral filter aids can be applied over a cellulose precoat or blended with cellulose in suitable proportions. In these systems, the fibers reinforce the cake structure, while the properties and proportions of the components jointly determine permeability and solids retention performance.

The filtration grades we supply are selected for beverage, food, edible oil, chemical and other industrial liquid processing applications. The appropriate grade and dosage are determined according to fiber size distribution, permeability, bulk density, support surface openings, liquid properties and the required cake structure. Suitability for the intended application is assessed through application trials, product specifications and relevant quality documentation.
