IPM is a family owned company specializing in mining and products made from perlite, with operations in multiple locations worldwide. It processes ore from its mining sites in Türkiye into products for diverse industries at its facilities in Türkiye and Spain. Mining, ore processing and expansion are integrated with port operations, warehousing and shipping, connecting the source to the customer.
Operating 14 active perlite quarries in Türkiye, IPM sources all its perlite from its own mining sites. The geological diversity of these resources enables ore selection for different products and applications. Perlite processed and classified at three facilities in Türkiye is supplied for direct industrial use or subsequent expansion. Four facilities in Spain produce classic expanded perlite, classified expanded perlite for filtration and advanced expanded perlite products.
The company’s technical approach combines an understanding of ore characteristics with customers’ application requirements. Alongside standard products, it develops grades tailored to specific formulations and process conditions. Plant design and mechanical equipment engineering are carried out within the company, allowing production lines to be adapted to the ore and target product specifications. The laboratory supports the production chain from geological evaluation to final product approval, while research and development focuses on product consistency, application performance and process efficiency.
Built on its own resources and production expertise, IPM’s perlite portfolio serves construction, filtration, agriculture and horticulture, foundry operations, cryogenic insulation, functional fillers, consumer care and absorbent applications. The company also distributes diatomite, activated carbon and cellulose sourced from specialist producers, complementing its filtration portfolio. Technical and commercial teams work with customers on product selection, application trials and performance evaluation.
Eight warehouses across five countries in Türkiye and Europe connect production with customers’ points of use. The European warehouse network is coordinated from Germany, while vessel chartering, container allocation, shipment planning and delivery tracking are managed internally. The Port of Dikili, in which IPM holds a shareholding and participates directly in management, is the hub for shipments aboard bulk carriers. Container shipments move through terminals in İzmir and Aliağa. Regional stocks replenished through sea, river and road transport support continuity of supply and delivery directly to customers’ premises.
Investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency is an important part of IPM’s approach to sustainability. Its wind power plant in Bergama contributes renewable electricity to the needs of its production facilities in Türkiye. Together with continuous improvements in production technology and energy use, these investments aim to reduce dependence on fossil energy sources and lessen the environmental impact of production.
Mining activities are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation and environmental obligations. Site rehabilitation is incorporated into production planning and carried out progressively as operations advance. IPM combines regulatory compliance with environmentally responsible site management, aiming to limit the impacts of mining and restore worked areas to a condition compatible with the surrounding natural environment.
