Carefully processed perlite can absorb oil and moisture, reduce unwanted shine and contribute to a smooth, matte appearance. It can also add volume, modify texture and create a soft, dry sensory profile. Different grades may be selected according to the required particle size, absorption level and skin feel.

In makeup formulations such as face powders, fine perlite particles help absorb excess oil and moisture while supporting a more even, matte-looking finish. Perlite can also act as a lightweight bulking ingredient and contribute to the texture and handling properties of the product.

In deodorants and other leave-on formulations, the porous structure supports moisture absorption and a dry sensory effect. Used as a carrier, the same pore structure can hold and release liquid actives, fragrances and oils within a dry, free-flowing powder.

Applications include makeup, face and body powders, deodorants and other dry or leave-on consumer formulations. The suitability of each perlite grade must be evaluated within the complete formulation and in accordance with the purity, safety and regulatory requirements of the target market.
